Four Children Rescued After Getting Trapped in Rising Waters at Mulberry Harbour

Kids Struggle as Water Swells

On Saturday afternoon, four children found themselves in serious trouble at Southend’s Mulberry Harbour. HM Coastguard Southend spotted them trying to get back to shore as the weather quickly worsened. The water turned dangerously deep, catching the youngsters off guard.

At one point, the children were seen up to their necks in water, frantically waving for help.

Rescue Teams Rush to the Scene

Southend Coastguard immediately alerted Dover Coastguard and the RNLI Southend Lifeboat. The Southend Hovercraft was launched to save the kids. Meanwhile, the children’s mother, frantically watching from shore, dialled 999 and called the Coastguard for help.

Swift Rescue and Emergency Care

The hovercraft crew extracted all four children safely and brought them to shore. Southend Coastguard quickly assessed their condition and found signs of hypothermia. The team provided urgent first aid while East of England Ambulance Service was dispatched.

Hospital Treatment Ensures Recovery

The children were taken to hospital for further treatment. Thankfully, all are now in the care of medical professionals following their terrifying ordeal.
