Mid-Air Crash Rocks Buckinghamshire – Plane and Helicopter Collide Near Waddesdon Manor
A deadly mid-air collision has shaken Buckinghamshire as a plane and helicopter smashed together near Waddesdon Manor, AAIB confirmed. Emergency crews rushed to the scene shortly after the 12:06pm crash.
Multiple Casualties After Mid-Air Smash
Ambulance services reported multiple casualties. The South Central Ambulance Service said:
“We received the call at 12:09pm about a mid-air collision involving a helicopter and an aircraft near Upper Winchendon, close to Aylesbury. We dispatched a Thames Valley air ambulance, two ambulance crews, two ambulance officers, and a rapid response vehicle. Several casualties are being treated.”
All Aircraft From Wycombe Air Park
A spokesman from Wycombe Air Park confirmed that both the plane and helicopter involved took off from their airfield near High Wycombe, roughly 20 miles from the crash site. The airfield is known for flight training.
Emergency Services Swarm the Crash Site
- Seven fire engines from Aylesbury, Haddenham, Oxfordshire, and Berkshire tackled the blaze.
- Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue deployed urban search and rescue teams, with 30 crew members on the scene.
- Police warned of area disruptions and said saving lives is the priority.
The crash happened in a wooded area close to Waddesdon Manor. The National Trust confirmed the manor grounds were unaffected but staff assisted emergency teams in reaching the site.
The Air Accidents Investigation Branch is now probing the accident to determine what went wrong.
