Thug Smashes Windows and Greenhouse in Herne Bay

Chaos hit Herne Bay on Thursday afternoon as a vandal wrecked a window and a greenhouse along Reculver Road. Officers have now released a suspect description after the brazen attacks.

Fluorescent Backpack Clue

At around 1.30pm on 31 January 2019, a white man about 5ft 6in tall hurled an object through the front window of a house. The same suspect then targeted a nearby property, smashing a greenhouse by throwing a wheelbarrow at the glass.

Witnesses described him carrying a bright fluorescent backpack, wearing a dark jacket and tracksuit bottoms. He is believed to be in his 40s.

Suspect Spotted Loitering and Trying to Break In

PC Hannah Ashman revealed the man lingered in the area until about 4.30pm. “We had further calls reporting a man matching the description loitering in a garden on The Lees and trying to break into a car on Terminus Drive,” she said.

“He was again seen with the brightly coloured bag, was wearing a dark jacket, tracksuit bottoms and is believed to be in his 40s. We urge further witnesses to come forward or anyone who recognises the description of this man.”
