Wildlife star Hamza Yassin got hands-on with schoolkids in Stratford for a wild outdoor adventure hosted by the Canal & River Trust.
Nature Lessons Meet Storytime
Last week, near the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Hamza joined pupils from Bobby Moore Primary School for the Explorers event, celebrating the upcoming launch of his new children’s book, Hamza’s Wild World.
Led by Canal & River Trust learning officer Mike Wakeford, the youngsters learned how to spot water birds and urban wildlife safely. Hamza enthralled the crowd with thrilling tales from his UK-wide conservation work.
“It was so brilliant to spend the morning with a super enthusiastic group of children and share stories from my book,” said Hamza.
Urban Wildlife on Show
The kids were amazed to see a mute swan chasing a Canadian goose, a fox cub lured out by coot chicks, and even caught the call of a reed warbler buzzing nearby. The bustling River Lea showed just how much wildlife thrives in the city.
Each child was gifted a copy of Hamza’s book, which hits shelves on 3 July, inspiring young readers to get outside and explore nature.
Boosting Future Wildlife Warriors
Annette Simpson, Learning and Skills Manager at the Canal & River Trust, hailed Hamza’s visit as a huge win:

The Canal & River Trust’s Explorers scheme educates thousands of children yearly, shining a light on urban nature and bringing underrepresented communities closer to the environment.
