Emergency services swooped on Kingston after 20 live artillery shells were discovered at a residential property.

Safety First as Evacuations and Road Closures Kick In

  • Residents in the affected and neighbouring homes were swiftly evacuated.
  • A 200-metre safety cordon was set up around the site.

Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team Called In

Officers snapped photos of the shells and sent them to the army’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD). Experts confirmed the shells were potentially live.

Swift Response Ends with Safe Removal

The shells were found just before 3.45pm on Wednesday, 15 March 2023, prompting immediate road closures.

The EOD team safely removed the ordnance, allowing roads to reopen by 4.34pm the same day.
