Residents in Newport and Ryde are without water once more after a supposed overnight fix went wrong. Southern Water had to isolate the mains for urgent repairs after a fresh leak appeared, leaving homes in the PO30 and PO33 postcode areas dry.
Water Cut to Hundreds Until Late Afternoon
The water outage is expected to last until at least 4pm as engineers battle to fix the vital network. Repairs are being delayed because of a shipping container parked on Dodnor Industrial Estate, complicating access to the damaged pipes.
Bottled Water Supplied Amid Rising Frustration
Bottled water has been dropped off at the top of Blue Meadows Estate, where hundreds of homes remain without supply. Emergency teams are working on Dodnor Lane, but locals face an uncertain wait.
“Southern Water again apologises for the inconvenience caused and thanks customers for their patience,” the company said.
