Amtrak Train Breaks Down, Stranding Passengers for Hours
Hundreds of Amtrak passengers were left stranded for hours after the Silver Service 92 train broke down just outside Wake, North Carolina. The disaster-hit train, travelling from Miami to New York, ground to a halt following a failure of a mandatory safety feature—a train horn.
12-Hours on Board and No End in Sight
The Silver Service 92 departed on the morning of Friday, June 21, but has been stuck for over four hours now. Many passengers had already been on board for 12 hours. The train crew handed out bottles of water and sweets, but frustration is growing as the train remains immobile with no clear timeline for departure.
The train was scheduled to reach New York around 7 pm on Saturday, but that arrival time is now long gone, leaving travellers stranded and missing their connecting flights and onward travel plans.
Customer Service Offers Little Comfort
Amtrak has told affected passengers to contact customer relations on Monday for assistance. Call centre staff said that managers would meet the train upon its eventual arrival to help customers.
Meanwhile, the Amtrak press office remains tight-lipped as a spokeswoman declined to comment further on the unfolding situation.
Passengers and Families Left in Limbo
Travellers and their families remain stuck, hoping for a swift end to this nightmare delay. For now, they wait, trapped on a broken train with no answers and no relief in sight.
