Southampton Mum Hayley Loses Battle with Aggressive Breast Cancer

Hayley Davis-Bateman, a mother of five from Southampton, has tragically passed away aged 33 after a brutal fight with breast cancer. Diagnosed at just 31, she underwent surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. Just when her family thought she had beaten it and her hair started to grow back, devastating news hit: the cancer had spread to her liver and was incurable.

Hayley’s Heartbreaking Fight to the End

Despite her grim prognosis, Hayley remained positive and shared her journey openly. In 2019, she wrote:

“Heartbroken. A few days ago I went for a scan — the first since starting a new treatment — and today I received the results. My treatment hasn’t worked and the cancer is growing. This will probably be my last year on earth.”

Refusing sympathy, Hayley asked friends to write letters for her children, filled with memories and love, so they would have joy instead of tears on their darkest days.

Final Moments Marked by Nation’s NHS Clap

Hayley passed away on Thursday, 16th April at 8pm, coinciding with the national applause for the NHS. Her brother revealed:

“After a rollercoaster battle over two years, Hayley decided she’d fought hard enough. She came home to spend her final days with loved ones, holding on until 8pm so she could hear the country applaud one last time — true to her dramatic flair.”

“She’s been a thorn in my side all her life but remains my absolute hero. Her positivity and strength were beyond most people.”

Legacy Lives On Through Children and Loved Ones

Hayley leaves behind five young children: Ellie (8), twins Noah and Willow (5), and Calla and Lukasz (3). They are now cared for by Hayley’s brother and parents. Her sister and best friend said:

“Hayley fought everything thrown at her with unbelievable positivity. The cancer spread aggressively to her liver, bones, and brain, yet she powered on as a devoted mum.”

“Hayley carried the BRCA1 gene, meaning her children — especially her three girls — face a high risk of developing cancer in the future.”

A GoFundMe page has raised over £2,600 to support Hayley’s family in her memory.

Rest in peace, Hayley — a brave warrior and loving mum who fought till the very end.
