High-speed Police Chase Ends in Ilford Crash as BMW Mini Smashes into London Bus

A dramatic police chase in Ilford ended in chaos when a white BMW Mini, racing at around 60mph, crashed into a Route 366 London bus. The smash happened on Loxford Lane at about 10:48pm on Tuesday.
Fire Crews Rescue Driver from Wreckage
Firefighters had to cut the driver free from the mangled Mini after the collision. The bus, which was heading towards Beckton Junction, had six people onboard including the driver. All passengers escaped serious injury but were checked by London Air Ambulance HEMS medics called to the scene.
Chase Details and Police Response
The Mini was being pursued by an undercover police traffic unit. The driver ignored police blue lights and failed to stop, prompting the high-speed chase. Following the crash, emergency services put a road closure in place to investigate the incident fully.
Specialist Investigation Underway
Specialist collision investigators from the Met Police Chadwell Heath traffic garage have been called in to determine the exact cause of the smash. Road closures on Loxford Lane are expected to continue for some time as they carry out their work.
The Mini driver was treated at the scene before being rushed to hospital. Their current condition remains unknown. Both the Met Police and London Ambulance Service have been contacted for comment.
