Power Cut Blackout Hits 500 Homes on Isle of Wight
Hundreds of homes on the Isle of Wight have been plunged into darkness tonight. Around 500 properties on Newport Road in Cowes, across both sides of the River Medina, are without power.
Traffic Chaos as Lights Fail
The outage has knocked out street lights and traffic signals, causing disruption across the PO31 postcode area. Drivers and residents are struggling with the blackout on this Saturday evening.
Repair Delays Leave Residents in the Dark Until Morning
Scottish and Southern Electricity initially promised to restore power by 11pm but have since issued an update. Engineers now warn the outage could last until 4am on Sunday morning.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and are working hard to fix the issue,” said Scottish and Southern Electricity.
