Major Roadworks on Medina Way Set to Hit Island Night Traffic
Island Roads is gearing up for essential maintenance on Medina Way, one of the Isle’s busiest dual carriageways. Work kicks off overnight on Wednesday and Thursday to keep daytime disruption to a minimum.
What’s Getting Done?
- Gully emptying
- Road sweeping
- Weed spraying
- Street lighting and powered apparatus testing
- Signage renewals
All to keep the crucial route safe and running smoothly.
Lane Closures and Diversions in Place
The southbound lane (from Cowes) will shut tonight, Wednesday, from 7.30pm to midnight. Then, the northbound lane (towards Cowes) faces the same closure on Thursday night during the same hours. Diversions will guide drivers around the closures.
Island Roads Boss Vows to Minimise Hassle
“This is such a busy route it is clearly subject to a lot of wear and tear, so it is vital we undertake a regular and comprehensive maintenance programme,” said James Adsett, Island Roads powered apparatus supervisor. “Various teams will work under the single lane closures to tackle their tasks efficiently. By working overnight and taking this joined-up approach, we aim to keep disruption to an absolute minimum.”
Motorists are advised to plan ahead and expect delays during the evening closures.
