The iconic London to Brighton Veteran Car Run roared through the streets on Sunday, November 3, 2024, thrilling thousands of spectators. Vintage car lovers and curious onlookers packed London’s Croydon neighbourhood, soaking up the glamour and nostalgia of these prized early 20th-century motors.
Early Start at Hyde Park Sets the Scene
The event kicked off bright and early at Hyde Park, with classic cars arriving from 6 a.m. The first vehicle sped off at 7 a.m. from Serpentine Road near Hyde Park Corner, launching the parade that celebrates the history of motoring. Enthusiasts lined up to witness the rolling car museum come to life.
Two Routes Through London’s Heart
The run split into two main routes through bustling Lambeth, giving fans multiple vantage points to catch the action:
- Red Route: From 7:10 a.m. to 9:50 a.m., veterans cars cruised through Lambeth North, Kennington, Brixton, Streatham, Norbury, and Thornton Heath via the A23.
- Blue Route: Also between 7:10 a.m. and 9:50 a.m., vehicles rolled past Lambeth, Vauxhall, Stockwell, Clapham Common, Tooting, Mitcham, and Mitcham Common on the A3036, A203, A3, A217, and A236.
The steady hum of vintage engines mixed with cheers from the crowd as the historic convoy paraded through the streets, sparking a wave of enthusiasm and appreciation for automotive heritage.
