Cows Cause Chaos on Kent Motorway
Motorists faced an unexpected moo-ving obstacle today when a herd of cows blocked the M20/M26 in Kent. The unusual bovine invasion sparked a swift road closure and left drivers stuck in a traffic nightmare.
National Highways and Police Race to Rescue
National Highways confirmed the carriageway closure after the cows strayed onto the motorway. Kent Police rushed to the scene to handle the animal incursion and keep both drivers and cows safe.
Delays of Up to 80 Minutes
The cow blockage caused tailbacks of up to 80 minutes westbound on the M20 after the M26 junction. Thankfully, officials have now cleared the animals off the road.
Residual delays remain, with traffic inching along between junctions J3 and J1 on the M20 westbound. Normal flow is expected to return between 10:15 am and 10:30 am.
Travel Advice for Drivers
Kent Police and National Highways are keeping a tight rein on the situation, ensuring the motorway stays clear. Drivers are urged to stay alert, check traffic updates regularly, and allow extra time for journeys while traffic settles.
