M5 SHUT IN BOTH DIRECTIONS AFTER POLICE INCIDENT
The M5 motorway in Gloucestershire is completely closed between Junction 13 (Stroud) and Junction 14 (Thornbury) following a serious police-led incident.
Both northbound and southbound lanes are blocked, causing major disruption. Gloucestershire Police are managing the closure, while National Highways Traffic Officers are on site directing traffic and trying to ease jams.
Drivers stuck in the tailbacks are being turned around from the back of the queues to avoid bigger chaos.
Clear Diversion Routes – Southbound Traffic
Southbound motorists should follow the Solid Circle diversion signs:
- Exit the M5 at Junction 13 and join the A38 southbound.
- Keep following the A38 southbound.
- Rejoin the M5 at Junction 14.
Northbound Traffic – What to Do
For those heading north, follow the Solid Triangle diversion signs:
- Leave the M5 at Junction 14 and take the A38 northbound.
- Continue on the A38 northbound.
- Rejoin the M5 at Junction 13.
