Fatal M6 Crash Shuts Motorway Southbound

The M6 motorway is still shut southbound between Preston and Lancaster after a horrific crash left one dead and several injured. The smash happened yesterday morning when a northbound HGV smashed through the central reservation, crashing into vehicles heading south.

Emergency Repairs and Major Delays

Emergency teams shut the M6 between Junctions 32 and 33 for investigations and urgent repairs. While the northbound side partially reopened with two lanes running, the southbound carriageway remains fully closed. Crews are busy resurfacing damaged sections, but no reopening time has been given yet.

Multi-Vehicle Collision Causes Chaos

The collision involved two lorries and three cars. Police haven’t revealed full casualty details yet. Drivers are forced onto the A6 diversion, causing heavy congestion and standstill traffic near Lancaster.

“The Southbound remains closed at this time as the carriageway needs to be re-surfaced,” said Lancashire Police. “Traffic is still expected to be heavy in this area until the full carriageway reopens.”

Motorists are urged to plan ahead and expect lengthy delays in the area.
