Massive Blaze Erupts at Dagenham Industrial Estate
London Fire Brigade crews are battling a huge fire at Beamway, Dagenham. Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters were scrambled to tackle the inferno that broke out on Sunday afternoon.
Tyres, Vehicles & Cylinders Fuel Intense Flames
The blaze involves a large quantity of tyres, vehicles, and scrap metal, sending thick black smoke billowing across the skyline. Witnesses reported hearing a series of small explosions, likely from multiple gas cylinders on site adding to the chaos.
Station Commander Mel Anderson at the scene said: “This is a very visible fire and it is producing a lot of smoke. We advise people in the area to keep their windows and doors closed.”
Emergency Services Issue Warnings, Area Under Lockdown
Authorities have cordoned off Beamway and closed Rainham Road South as firefighting efforts continue. Locals are urged to avoid the area and stay indoors due to thick smoke and potential chemical hazards from burning tyres and cylinders.
“Two gas cylinders have been removed and cooled as a safety precaution,” added Commander Anderson. “Some cylinders can explode when exposed to heat.”
No Casualty Reports Yet, Cause Unknown
So far, no official word on injuries or the fire’s cause has been released. Fire crews are using a 32-metre turntable ladder to douse flames from above, tackling the fiery monster for several hours and receiving over 50 emergency calls about the incident.
One local described the scene as “chaotic,” with huge plumes of smoke soaring into the sky as firefighters fight to bring the blaze under control.
Drivers and residents should steer clear of Beamway and surrounding roads until the all-clear is given.
