Urgent Search Underway for Missing Man in Kent Village
A major search operation is in full swing in Marden, Kent, as teams hunt for Nicholas French, a man in his 50s who vanished Thursday night.
Last Seen Near Marden Railway Station
Nicholas French was reported missing at 9.11pm on 3 November 2022 after he failed to return home. He had told relatives he was walking from Marden train station along Goudhurst Road but never arrived.
The 50-year-old is around 5ft 10in tall, with a slight but stocky build, short greying hair, and a beard.
Coastguard Helicopter Joins Intense Search
Search teams from Kent SAR, Kent Police, and a coastguard helicopter have flooded the area, combing Marden and neighbouring villages. They’re scouring gardens, hedgerows, and side roads with torches despite heavy rain and flooding locking down some routes.
- A control point is set up at the junction of Mayes Road and Goulding Road to coordinate search efforts.
- Volunteers from South East 4×4 teams have been called in to access flooded or tricky roads.
- Police have been conducting door-to-door checks and questioning locals near the takeaway where Nicholas was last spotted.
Police Issue Plea for Information
Inspector Suzy McDonnell said: “We are very concerned for this man’s welfare as there is considerable flooding on local roads, which he may have sought to avoid by walking along footpaths or across fields.”
“Emergency services are searching the Marden area and we are appealing to anybody who has seen Nicholas or knows of his whereabouts to contact us.”
“Anyone with information is urged to call 999, quoting reference 3-1344.”
This urgent search continues as authorities and volunteers battle foul weather to find Nicholas French safe and sound.
