Tragedy struck Holland Park last night as a blaze tore through a house converted into flats on Holland Park Gardens. Twelve fire engines and around 80 firefighters rushed to the scene after the fire broke out just before 10pm on Tuesday (16th).

The fire damaged part of a first-floor flat and a second-floor flat also suffered damage. Horror deepened when a man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Neighbours evacuated in safety scramble

About eight neighbouring properties were evacuated as a safety precaution. Fire crews battled the flames from stations in Hammersmith, Kensington, North Kensington, and nearby areas.

Fire under control but cause still unknown

The blaze was reported at 9.44pm and brought under control by 2.01am. Fire officials are now investigating the cause of the fire.
