4-Aboard Socata TBM700N Loses Control on Landing

The drama unfolded around 2 p.m. when a Socata TBM700N, carrying four people, attempted to land. Kalispell Police Chief Jordan Venezio and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) say the pilot lost control during the landing attempt.

The plane crashed onto the runway before smashing into multiple parked planes. The collision ignited fires that swallowed several aircraft and spread to nearby grass. Fire crews quickly doused the blaze, preventing it from spreading further.

All Four Escape Unhurt Despite Intense Blaze

“All four people aboard escaped without serious injury,” said Chief Venezio. “Given the severity of the crash and subsequent fire, it’s remarkable that there were no fatalities.”

FAA and NTSB Launch Investigation, Airport Operations Resume

The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the crash cause. Airport operations were briefly suspended while teams cleared wreckage and assessed damage.

Kalispell City Airport is open but flight schedules may face disruption due to the loss of several aircraft in the fire.
