Deadly Stabbing Shakes Bodmin on Sunday Afternoon

Police rushed to Victoria Square on Castle Canyke Road at 3.15pm on Sunday 30th April after reports of a serious knife attack. Multiple victims suffered suspected stab wounds in a terrifying altercation.

One Dead, Eight Hurt – Two Remain in Hospital

Michael Allen, 36, was tragically confirmed dead at the scene. Seven other men and one additional person were injured and taken to hospital. Five have since been released, but two remain in hospital recovering from surgery.

Family Pays Tribute as Police Launch Murder Probe

Michael Allen’s family released a statement requesting privacy. They remembered him as a “much-loved son, brother, grandson, and uncle who loved his dogs.” Meanwhile, police have arrested a 24-year-old man from Bodmin on suspicion of murder, attempted murder, and causing grievous bodily harm with intent. The suspect has been questioned, and the investigation has been extended by 36 hours.

Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward

Detective Inspector Ilona Rosson from the Major Crime Investigation Team appealed for the public’s help. “Every piece of information, no matter how small, could be vital to our investigation,” she said. Anyone who saw the attack or has footage is urged to contact the police via the Major Incident Public Portal.
