Boat Party Bust: 72 Fined for Flouting Covid Rules in North Acton

Police crashed a massive boat party in North Acton just after 11pm on Saturday, 30 January. More than 70 revellers were packed onto a moored vessel on Volt Avenue, ignoring strict coronavirus restrictions.

Covid Rule Breakers Face Hefty Fines

Officers swiftly dispersed the crowd of 72 partygoers. Each was reported for fixed penalty notices of £800 for attending an indoor gathering exceeding the 15-person legal limit.

The organiser took the biggest hit—facing a whopping £10,000 fine for arranging the illegal shindig.

Detective Chief Insp. Slams ‘Blatant’ Rule Breach

This was a blatant breach of the Coronavirus rules that are in place to save lives and protect the huge pressure on the NHS,” said Detective Chief Inspector Thomas Bowen of West Area.

“All the people who attended this event, which appears to have been organised on social media, have quite rightly been reported for the consideration of fines.”

“The Met will continue to shut down and disperse events such as this, which risk spreading a virus that has already claimed the lives of more than 100,000 people in this country.”

This crackdown sends a clear warning: Covid rules aren’t a joke – break them and expect to pay up.
