Serious Crash Near Ferndown: Police Hunt Witnesses and Dashcam Footage

Police are urgently appealing for witnesses after a serious collision on the A31 near Ferndown left a motorcyclist fighting for his life.

Crash Details

The smash happened at around 7.40pm on Monday, 2 March 2020, at the junction with Uddens Drive. A blue Volkswagen Polo and a green Honda ST1300 motorcycle collided in what police describe as a serious injury crash.

The biker, a man in his 60s, was rushed to Southampton General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. His family has been informed. The Volkswagen driver, a man in his 30s, suffered minor injuries and also went to hospital.

Road Closures and Police Appeal

Emergency services shut the A31 between Ameysford and Canford Bottom roundabouts while they dealt with the scene and carried out a full collision investigation.

“We are carrying out a full investigation to establish the circumstances and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to please contact us,” said Police Sgt Sarah Jones of the traffic unit. “I urge motorists with dashcams who were in the area to check their footage for anything relevant.”

She added: “Thank you to everyone for their patience during the road closures. They were necessary to ensure emergency workers could respond and examine the scene safely.”
