The A3056 is closed between the Blackwater junction and the road to Merstone following a major three-vehicle crash involving a heavy goods vehicle (HGV).
Rescue Crews Race to Free Trapped Driver
Two crews from Newport have used specialist cutting gear to remove the roof of a vehicle and free a trapped passenger. The crash involved a blue Island-registered Mondeo estate, a white Skoda, and an HGV that had stopped to let horses cross nearby.
One victim was trapped and had to be placed on a spinal board before being rushed to hospital. Another, described as “walking wounded,” was treated at the scene.
Road Remains Closed – Expect Delays
Police contractors Stag Lane Motors are handling vehicle recovery. Drivers are urged to respect the closure and cordon for safety reasons.
