Fire Chief Neil Sets the Blaze for Safety Across Hampshire and Isle of Wight
From Rookie to Chief Fire Officer
Neil started fighting fires back in 1991. Over the years, he climbed the ranks through three different fire services before landing a top spot in 2012 as Assistant Chief Officer (Community Safety) at Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service. By 2014, he was Deputy Chief and Director of Service Delivery, overseeing everything from frontline emergency responses to community safety schemes and prevention work.
Top Brass at Hampshire and Isle of Wight
In January 2018, Neil took the reins as Chief Fire Officer for both Hampshire Fire and Rescue and the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service. Now he’s the man in charge of protecting millions and running the operation that keeps fires—and disasters—at bay.
Leading National Fire Prevention Efforts
Neil’s influence stretches beyond local borders. As Chairman of the UK National Fire Chief’s Council Prevention Committee, he helps fire departments nationwide prevent fires and emergencies. On top of that, he’s a trustee for the Blue Lamp Trust, a charity dedicated to boosting community safety in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
Covid-19: Coordinating Crisis Response
During the pandemic, Neil stepped up as chair of the Strategic Coordinating Group (SCG) in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. He led multi-agency efforts to deliver a swift and effective response to COVID-19, keeping communities safer during uncertain times.
