Blaze at Northolt Flats Brings Chaos and Evacuations
A fierce fire ripped through a block of flats on Newmarket Avenue, Northolt, engulfing half the roof of a five-room flat in the Racecourse Estate. The London Fire Brigade (LFB) has now brought the blaze under control, but not before forcing residents to evacuate amid thick smoke and chaos.
Emergency Services Rush to Scene
The fire broke out around 1:37pm, summoning crews from Northolt, Ruislip, Wembley and nearby stations. Firefighters scrambled to evacuate residents while the Metropolitan Police sealed off the area. An air ambulance was called to airlift one person, while the London Ambulance Service treated and hospitalised four others. Their current conditions remain unknown.
Witness Describes “Movie-Like” Horror
Northolt local Nataliya Klymko saw the inferno from her window and called it “something out of a movie.” She told Ealing Nub News:
“Things have died down but we still have a large fire brigade presence and the area is cordoned off. My younger brother noticed it first. He ran into the kitchen saying, ‘I smell smoke’ so we went outside to check. The smoke was everywhere – I couldn’t see in front of me.”
Fire Cause Under Investigation
Official sources confirm the cause of the fire is still being investigated as crews continue their work in the Racecourse Estate. Residents and authorities remain on alert as the investigation unfolds.
