The brand-new Wightlink Victoria ferry has hit rough waters before it has even properly sailed. Insiders reveal the vessel is plagued by a list of serious technical faults, putting its service schedule in jeopardy.
Victoria Pulled from Service Amid Troubles
The ferry was taken out of service last week after engineers uncovered big problems. UKNIP has learned the issues run deep — far beyond the previously reported over-inflated and damaged fuel tank.
Pre Warmers and Fuel System Failures
Another major headache involves the pre warmers on the pre-start engine, which are crucial for warming up the main engines. Contractors have been summoned to portsmouth/" title="Portsmouth" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Portsmouth to begin urgent repairs.
On top of that, the fuel system has thrown up a second significant fault, frustrating engineers tasked with fixing the problems. Hours of labour have been logged trying to get the Victoria back to operational standard.
Weeks of Repairs Loom for Wightlink
Insiders say it’ll take many weeks to complete all outstanding work on the vessel. Wightlink has already been forced to run a revised timetable to cope with the delays.
“Major issues remain,” an engineer told us. “Wightlink has their work cut out to turn this one around.”
