Tragic Crash on M3 Claims Life of 11-Year-Old Boy

A family trip turned deadly on Sunday night as a red Nissan Qashqai crashed on the southbound M3 near junction 11. The Nissan slammed into the barrier at around 8.50pm while on the slip road, leaving the family shaken and one young boy dead.

Boy Dies, Driver Seriously Injured

The 11-year-old boy was rushed to Southampton General Hospital" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Southampton General Hospital but sadly later died. The driver, a 61-year-old man, suffered serious, potentially life-changing injuries and is also being treated at the same hospital.

A 48-year-old woman and a 9-year-old girl from the vehicle sustained minor injuries and were taken to Southampton General Hospital as well.

Police Appeal for Witnesses and Dash Cam Footage

Specialist officers are supporting the grieving family from Fair Oak, Eastleigh. Inspector Andy Storey urged anyone who was driving along the motorway around the time of the crash to come forward.

“We know the family were travelling from the Basingstoke area. If you were on this stretch of the M3 before the collision and saw the Nissan Qashqai, please get in touch,” he said.
