The UK Coastguard has staged a dramatic precautionary evacuation of 115 workers from the Thistle Platform, located 125 miles northeast of Shetland. The daring rescue saw personnel whisked away by the Sumburgh-based Coastguard Rescue Helicopter alongside two additional aircraft from Norway.

With rough sea conditions making boat transfers risky, the helicopter was the safest and fastest way to move everyone to nearby operating platforms. Safety officials confirmed that this airlift was the best option under the challenging weather.
