Serious Crash Shuts M5 Northbound This Morning

A man has been seriously injured in a huge multi-vehicle smash on the M5, shutting the northbound carriageway between junctions 3 and 2.

West Midlands Ambulance Service sprang into action after a 5.52am call. Three ambulances, a paramedic officer, specialist HART paramedics, and a MERIT trauma team — including a doctor and critical care paramedic — raced to the scene.

One Man Critically Hurt, Others Treated at Scene

A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: “On arrival, crews found multiple vehicles and three patients involved in the crash.

“One man was in serious condition. Our staff administered specialist trauma care before rushing him to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, with blue lights and sirens. The doctor accompanied him to continue treatment en route.

“Two other men had minor injuries and were treated and discharged at the scene.”
