Spanish Lorry Driver Airlifted After Shocking Fall from M20 Bridge
Tragic Fall on M20 Near Hollingbourne
An overseas lorry driver suffered serious injuries after plunging from a motorway bridge near Hospital Road in Hollingbourne this Thursday morning.
The Spanish driver was airlifted to William Harvey Hospital in Ashford following the dramatic fall at around 9am, after reportedly needing to use the toilet while waiting in Operation Brock queues on the M20.
Rapid Response from Kent Police and Paramedics
Kent Police officers and South East Coast ambulance paramedics, supported by specialist HART teams, rushed to the scene to stabilise the man. Kent Roads Police used onboard first-aid life packs to treat him amid challenging conditions.
Officers had to halt motorway traffic and scramble down the steep verges to reach the injured driver after he exited his Spanish-registered lorry cab and fell from the bridge.
Paramedics Delayed by Road Closures
Paramedics faced delays reaching the scene due to the M20 closure and Brock Zero diversions, complicating their route to the man.
Once on site, advance paramedics and HART teams carefully packaged the injured driver before he was airlifted to hospital for urgent treatment.
Kent Police have been contacted for further comment.
