A3 SHUTDOWN: Blue Renault Aquaplanes into Centre Reservation, Road Closed Until 7pm

The northbound A3 between the A272 Petersfield South and North junctions is shut after a nasty smash involving a blue Renault. Police say the closure will last until at least 7pm as they clear the scene.

Wet Roads Spell Trouble

The crash happened just after 4.30pm when the Renault is believed to have aquaplaned on the soaking wet road before smashing into the central reservation.

Specialist recovery firm JD Motors has been called to haul the car from the wreck.

Drivers Urged to Slow Down

The road surface is extremely slippery due to heavy rain. Authorities warn: “It’s not the water that causes aquaplaning – it’s driving too fast through it.”

“Slow down in wet conditions and drive sensibly,” police advise.

Expect delays and consider alternative routes if travelling through Petersfield this evening.
