Dramatic Medical Evac in English Channel as Cruise Crew Suffers Heart Attack

Bembridge RNLI and Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 175 launched a daring medical evacuation tonight in the middle of the English Channel. The drama unfolded aboard the cruise ship Ventura, just off the Isle of Wight.

Heart Attack Sparks Emergency Rescue

The Ventura, which left southampton/" title="Southampton" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Southampton heading for Vigo, Spain, called for help after a crew member suffered a serious heart attack. Bembridge’s Tamar-class All Weather Lifeboat was scrambled just before 8pm. Lee-on-Solent based Rescue Helicopter 175 was scrambled too, with a paramedic winched onboard the cruise ship.

Quick Action Saves Crew Member’s Life

The paramedic stabilised the patient before he was carefully prepped for airlift. The sick crew member was then winched up into the helicopter and flown straight to Southampton General Hospital for urgent treatment.

Rescue Mission Wraps Up, Ventura Sails On

With the patient now in safe hands, both the lifeboat and helicopter began their return. Meanwhile, the Ventura has resumed its voyage to Spain, continuing smoothly after the tense evacuation.
