Hero Dog Patch Found After Terrifying Fire Ordeal
A desperate search ended when Patch, a brave dog, was found abandoned in a ditch. He had likely been lying there for two days, battling severe burns and the punishing UK heat.
Severe Burns and Critical Condition
Patch was rushed to Oakhill Vets in Goosnargh before being transferred to Vets Now, where he remains critically ill. The poor pooch suffers from severe burns down his left side, with necrotic skin—tissue that has died due to dangerous infection.
“Patch is in a critical condition, and his recovery will be long and difficult,” vets revealed.
Necrotic infections can quickly become deadly if untreated, plunging tissues into rapid decay.
Additional Injuries and Gruesome Complications
- Eye damage under assessment, with fears Patch may have lost his sight
- Two deep cuts infested with maggots
- Inhaled smoke and debris leading to pneumonia
Patch is on IV antibiotics and methadone for pain relief. Experts warn he’ll need multiple skin grafts and extensive treatment to fight infection and heal.
Unthinkable Trauma for a Beloved Family Dog
Patch’s kennel was destroyed in the blaze—with him trapped inside. Miraculously, the terrified dog escaped amidst fear and agony.
He’s been part of his family since puppyhood. They never deserved this horror.
