ITV Claims Holly and Phil Were ‘On Duty’
After backlash erupted over the TV duo’s alleged VIP access, ITV released a statement defending them. “We requested Phillip and Holly’s participation in a film for Tuesday’s show,” ITV said. “They were there in a professional capacity as members of the international media to cover the event. They did not skip the line, have VIP access, or file past the Queen lying in state.”
Viewers Demand They Queue Like Everyone Else
Fans of This Morning weren’t convinced, slamming Holly and Phil on social media for what they called “special treatment”. One viewer posted: “Always loved Holly and Phil. Today, I lost all respect for them. They ought to have waited their turn to show respect, just like David Beckham. No special treatment!”
Another added: “Totally disgusting behaviour by the entire This Morning team who thought it was okay to queue jump. There were still elderly, disabled, and far more famous people waiting. They had no need to be there since other TV crews were covering the event.”
