A deadly fire tore through a home in Glenboi, near Mountain Ash, Rhondda Cynon Taf, in the early hours of New Year’s Eve. Emergency crews raced to the scene just before 2am after reports of a fierce blaze.

Firefighters battled the flames through the night while South Wales Police closed down Aberdare Road and evacuated nearby homes. Tragically, a person was found dead inside the burning property.

The fire brigade described the situation as “ongoing,” warning roads will remain closed for hours with emergency teams still at the scene.

Investigation Underway as Authorities Probe Fire Cause

South Wales Police and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service have launched an investigation into the devastating blaze. Rhondda Cynon Taf Council is also supporting the inquiry. The home remains sealed off until it is safe for investigators.

South Wales Police said: “Our thoughts are with the victim’s family at this difficult time.”
