In the early hours of Sunday, chaos unfolded on Ryde esplanade when someone playing on the rocks mysteriously disappeared. The alarm blared just after 3.20am, sparking a major rescue operation on land and sea.
Friends’ frantic call sparks coastguard scramble
Friends quickly alerted police and coastguards. Two coastguard rescue teams from Bembridge and Ventnor rushed to the scene. Meanwhile, two lifeboats from the independent Ryde lifeboat charity joined the hunt, scouring both the shoreline and water for any trace.
