Fatal A27 Crash in Lewes: Police Launch Appeal for Witnesses

Tragedy Strikes on A27

Emergency services were called to a horrific collision on the A27 near Lewes in the early hours of Saturday, 13 September. At around 3.30am, a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle on the westbound carriageway close to the Esso Garage. Sadly, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Road Closures Cause Delays

The crash forced the closure of the A27 in both directions between Falmer and Southerham Roundabout. While the eastbound side has now reopened, the westbound carriageway remains closed as investigations continue.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

Officers are desperate to hear from anyone who saw the collision or has dashcam footage from the area at the time. Witnesses can contact Sussex Police by emailing [email protected] or calling 101. Quote Operation Benbow when reporting.
