Unidentified Woman Discovered in Chorlton River
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have opened an investigation after a woman’s body was found in the River Mersey near Chorlton Water Park. Emergency services were called to the scene at around 11:10am on Thursday, 21 March 2024, following reports of a female body in the water.
Who Is She? Clues Released to Help Identify
The victim remains unidentified despite forensic tests, DNA analysis, and checks against missing persons records. Her exact age, ethnicity, and cause of death are unclear due to how long she was in the river.
She is described as around 5ft 1in (156cm) tall, slim, with medium-length dark brown hair.
Police have released images and details of items found with her, hoping for public leads:
- A lime-green Primark crop-top
- Blue “New Look – Jenna” jeans, size UK 8 (EU 36, US 4)
- Green non-slip socks
Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
Detectives are urging anyone who recognises the clothing or has information about the woman to get in touch. They’re especially keen on CCTV, dashcam, or mobile footage taken near Chorlton Water Park around the time of the discovery.
