Blackburn Pedestrian Hurt in Nighttime BMW Smash
Police rushed to the scene just after 10pm on Friday, October 9, following a crash outside the BP Petrol Station on 1 New Road near Montague Street in Blackburn.
Pedestrian Seriously Injured After Collision
A black BMW 3 Series slammed into a 52-year-old local man before crashing into a fence at the petrol station forecourt. The pedestrian suffered serious chest injuries and was flown to Royal Preston Hospital. Thankfully, his condition is stable and not life-threatening.
Driver Questioned, Police Hunt for CCTV
The driver, a 21-year-old Blackburn man, was spoken to at the scene and will be interviewed again soon as police probe what led to the crash.
Officers are urgently seeking anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage from Montague Street or Preston New Road towards Barbara Castle Way. They want to trace the BMW’s movements before the smash.
“A pedestrian has been left badly injured and we want to establish exactly what happened,” said PC David Todhunter of Lancashire Police’s Tactical Operations.
“We are keen to speak to any witnesses, or anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage which might show the scene. Please get in touch if you can help.”
