Wickham Fair Sparks Major Road Chaos This Friday
Get ready, Wickham! The popular Wickham 1 Fair returns on Friday, 20 May, and it’s bringing road closures and parking restrictions that will grind local traffic to a halt.
Road Closures to Snarl Traffic
- The Square will be completely closed to traffic from 12pm on Thursday, 19 May until 10am Saturday, 21 May.
- A334 shutdown: The stretch between Blind Lane traffic signals and the A32 roundabout will be closed from 5am to 8pm on Friday, 20 May.
Parking Chaos and Horse Box Zones
Horse boxes will be parked along the east side of the A334, between the north end of The Square and the junction of Blind Lane and Titchfield Lane. To keep traffic moving, temporary parking restrictions will be enforced along local diversion routes through Wickham. Park illegally, and risk having your vehicle towed.
Advice for Motorists and Locals
If you’re not heading to the fair, consider alternative routes to dodge gridlock. Residents and businesses have been contacted directly and can call a dedicated hotline set up for concerns.
Inspector John Stribley said: “Wickham 1 Fair is set to return this Friday, 20 May, and anyone planning to attend should make sure they are aware of the road closures and parking arrangements before they start their journeys.
Officers will be on site throughout the event to respond to any issues that may arise.
We have been working closely with organisers, local authority partners and businesses to make sure this is a safe 1 for residents and visitors during the event.”
