Serious Crash Shuts A33 Basingstoke Road Near Winchester
The A33 near Abbots Worthy remains closed after a serious collision this evening. The crash, involving a single vehicle, happened just after 5:20pm close to the busy junction between Abbots Worthy and Kings Worthy near Winchester.
Emergency Crews Flood the Scene
Hampshire Roads Policing officers rushed to the incident, joined by two ambulances, a rapid response paramedic, and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight air ambulance. The South Central Ambulance Service confirmed they dispatched the emergency teams promptly after receiving the call at 5:24pm.
One Patient Hospitalised With Life-Changing Injuries
A spokeswoman from SCAS said:
“The incident involved a single vehicle road traffic collision. We sent two ambulances, a rapid response paramedic and an ambulance officer to the scene. One patient was taken to 1 with life-changing injuries.”
Road Likely to Remain Closed – Seek Alternatives
The westbound A33 is expected to stay shut for some time as officers investigate and manage the scene. Drivers are urged to find alternative routes to avoid delays.
