Early Morning Burglar on the Loose in Portsmouth!

Police are hunting a woman linked to a string of daring break-ins across Southsea, Portsmouth. The crimes happened mostly between 5am and 8am, with the suspect often scaring off residents after being challenged.

Series of Break-Ins Sparks Alarm

  • Jan 31: Between 7.40am and 7.50am, a flat on Nightingale Road was targeted. The resident caught a noise and shouted out, sending the culprit packing.
  • Also, on Nightingale Road the same morning, a woman was spotted snapping a front door lock but fled when confronted.
  • Later that day, a burglary on Sussex Road saw a thief slip in through a basement window and make off with jewellery and electronics.
  • Feb 16: Around 5am-5.30am, intruders sneaked into a property on Linklater Path via a small window vent, stealing door keys.
  • At 6.50am the same morning, a break-in attempt was foiled on Turner Road after a resident shouted out, forcing the intruder to run.
  • Feb 13: Early morning on Shakespeare Road, a woman tried to break into a flat but fled when tackled by a man, heading off towards Manor Road.
  • Between midnight and 8am on the same day, an attempted break-in on Manor Road left tool marks on a door—but no entry was gained.

Suspect Description: Woman in Her 40s

Police describe the suspect as:

  • Female, mid-40s
  • Height: 5’3” to 5’4”
  • Dark brown or auburn hair tied back
  • Visible scabs on her face
  • Seen wearing either a blue/black puffer jacket or dark blue/grey jacket with skinny jeans

Police Issue Warning to Local Residents

Detective Sergeant Martin Longyear said, “I urge all residents to stay vigilant after a spate of early morning burglaries believed to be linked to this woman. If you see anyone acting suspiciously between 5am and 8am in these areas, please get in touch.”
