Two Arrested After High-Speed Stolen Car Chase Ends Safely in Hove
Stolen Vauxhall Astra Sparks Police Pursuit
Police raced into action on Saturday 5 September after a break-in at a home in Colebrook Close, East Worthing. Thieves made off with car keys and promptly stole a Vauxhall Astra parked outside.
Just minutes later, officers spotted the stolen Astra on the A27 near Lyons Farm. The driver ignored police signals to stop and sped off eastbound, weaving dangerously through traffic.
High-Speed Chase Through Lancing and Hove
The stolen car darted into Coombes Road, Lancing, narrowly missing a cyclist who leapt out of the way and suffered minor injuries. The chase then swung back onto the A27.
Multiple police vehicles were damaged during the pursuit, but officers finally brought the car to a halt on Devils Dyke Road, Hove.
Suspects Held as Police Probe Crime Spree
- A 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving under the influence of drink and drugs, driving whilst disqualified, failing to stop for police, and burglary.
- A 16-year-old boy was also arrested on suspicion of burglary.
Both remain in custody for questioning as police continue their investigations.
