Red Funnel Smashes May Bank Holiday Records!
Red Funnel, the original Isle of Wight ferry operator, has reported a stunning 16% jump in passenger numbers over the early May bank holiday compared to 2017. This sets a new record for the busy holiday weekend.

Vehicle traffic boomed too, with an 18% rise in private cars carried on bank holiday Monday. Visitors clearly flocked back after an unforgettable weekend on the island.
Why the Surge?
“We are pleased to see this lift in carryings after the poor weather over the last holidays,” said Jonathan Green, Red Funnel’s marketing and communications director. “More people are finding it easier and faster to travel to the Isle of Wight from southampton/" title="Southampton" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Southampton, Hampshire and the New Forest than to other south coast hotspots. This is fueling day-trip and short-break bookings for May and June.”
With traffic and bookings up, Red Funnel looks set to keep riding the wave of holidaymakers heading to the Isle of Wight this summer.
