Shanklin to Lake Road Gets a Fresh New Look Next Month!
Island Roads is set to resurface Whitecross Lane and Sandy Lane from Merrie Gardens to Witbank Gardens. The four-day roadworks will kick off on May 8, aiming to revamp one of the key routes linking Shanklin and Lake.
Daytime Works to Keep Disruption Low
This stretch is mostly residential, so the work will happen between 6.30am and 6pm to minimise disturbance. Pedestrians won’t be left stranded—access will stay open throughout.
Two-Phase Plan to Ease Traffic Hassles
To keep traffic flowing smoothly, the resurfacing will be done in two phases, either side of Landguard Holiday Park. Locals and businesses have already been briefed, with Island Roads staff visiting shops to discuss how the works might affect them.

Before and during the project, information boards will be displayed on-site to keep everyone updated on progress and any changes.
