Ex-P&O Workers Block Dover Port Road in Fiery Protest
Chaos hit the Port of Dover after sacked workers stormed off their ship and blocked Jubilee Way, the main road into the port. The protest kicked off just after 2.30pm on Thursday, snarling traffic as angry former employees waved flags and brandished placards.
Traffic Stalls as Protesters Bring Port Access to Halt
Lorries and vehicles trying to enter the port were left stranded. Kent Police officers arrived on the scene, managing the tense stand-off. At one point, protesters showed a rare moment of compassion, allowing an emergency ambulance to pass through the blockade.
Support from Drivers Amid Peaceful Demonstration
The protest remained calm, with some drivers sounding their horns in solidarity. Officers allowed the demonstration to continue peacefully, while workers made their point clear over being suddenly sacked.
