Fake Football Scout Tricks Kids and Snaps Photos at Maidstone Parks
Kent FA has been alerted to a man lurking at Gatland Park (ME16), approaching children and claiming to be a Maidstone scout. He’s also falsely said he’s from various soccer schools.
Suspicious Man Spotted at Training Sessions
Reports say this man has been hanging around Gatland Park on Wednesday evenings during youth training for weeks. On at least one occasion, he took pictures of the children. Coaches confronted him and told him to leave and stop taking photos. He complied.
The man also claimed to be a scout for Maidstone United and gave trophies to a couple of kids — but not during training sessions. The club has warned children about “Stranger Danger,” telling them not to speak to strangers or accept gifts. Parents of the kids involved have also been informed.
Second Sighting at KSport’s Cobdown Ground
The same man turned up at KSport’s Cobdown ground over the weekend, watching youth games. This time, he said he was a Crystal Palace scout. The club has denied any connection to him.
The incidents have been reported to Kent Police, who are investigating.
