Taxi Driver’s Fuel Stop Turns Fiery Nightmare at Netherthorpe Road

Late on April 13, trouble sparked at a Shell service station on Netherthorpe Road. Between 11.20pm and 11.40pm, a taxi driver pulled in to refuel when a stranger approached him asking for a cigarette.

Man Sets Fire to Taxi and Petrol Pump

Shockingly, the man then bent over the fuel nozzle and lit it on fire. Flames instantly engulfed the taxi and the petrol pump, causing severe damage.

Quick-Thinking Staff Put Out Blaze, No Injuries

Staff jumped into action to extinguish the flames. Thankfully, no one was hurt in the fiery ordeal.

Police Hunting Suspect on the Run

The arsonist fled on foot through the back of the station immediately after the blaze.
