Kent Fire and Rescue Service raced to a basement fire at a commercial building on Calverley Road, Tunbridge Wells. Six fire engines rolled up, including two from East Sussex Fire and Rescue.

Crews decked out in breathing apparatus tackled the blaze using hose reel jets, compressed air foam, smoke curtains, and a fog spike. Their quick action stopped the flames from spreading further. Nearby properties were evacuated as a safety precaution.

Two Treated for Smoke Inhalation, Faulty Wiring Blamed

Two people suffered minor smoke inhalation and were treated on scene. Investigators believe faulty cabling sparked the fire, which started in paper stored in the basement.

Fire Spreads Upwards, Causes Smoke Damage

The fire climbed to the first floor, causing smoke damage on the second floor and affecting neighbouring properties. Thankfully, no severe injuries were reported.
