Massive Fire Response as Chip Pan Blaze Erupts at Selsdon Pizza Takeaway

Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters rushed to a chip pan fire at a pizza takeaway on Addington Road, Selsdon on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. The emergency call came in shortly after 12:30 pm, sparking a major fire alert.

Smoke Pillars and Rapid Action

Witnesses saw thick smoke billowing from the roof, spreading quickly into the surrounding area. Due to the takeaway’s close proximity to homes, fire crews mobilised swiftly to prevent the blaze from spreading and endangering residents.

The London Fire Brigade confirmed the fire started in a chip pan inside the takeaway and spread up into the roof space. “Due to the fire’s location and the presence of neighbouring residential buildings,” they explained, “we deployed extra units to manage the incident safely and effectively.”

No Injuries as Firefighters Contain Blaze

Firefighters battled to contain the flames within the takeaway, successfully stopping the fire from reaching nearby homes. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
